We
are daughters, mothers, grandmothers, sisters,
and aunts. We’ve taught school, been stay-at-home-moms,
ran our own businesses and worked as college professors,
secretaries, paralegals, lawyers and physical
therapists. We’ve experienced our children’s
first day of school, are surviving the tumultuous
high-school years of our teenagers and are putting
our kids through college. We’ve agonized
over childcare options and made the healthcare
decisions for our families.
We suffered the untimely and tragic loss of loved-ones,
listen to our fathers talk of “the war”
and are caring for our aging parents.
We’re volunteers, activists and community-builders.
We’ve constructed playgrounds, fire stations
and reading centers, cleaned-up water supplies,
coached sports teams and supported programs to
help the most vulnerable in our communities.
We’re championing education reform, conservation
and environmental initiatives, autism awareness,
support for seniors and their caregivers, increased
access to healthcare, changes in ethics regulations
and much, much more.
We are women, just like you.
We’re also Republican members of the Illinois
House of Representatives who are working together
to bring the voices of Illinois’ women to
the forefront of the General Assembly.
Our Mission
Women’s Voices Illinois is committed to
engaging women in the political process so that
their voices are heard by policymakers in their
local communities, in Springfield and in our nation’s
Capitol.
By engaging in the political process we mean:
- registering to vote and then voting
- educating yourself about candidates
- volunteering for political campaigns
- contributing to political campaigns
- running for political office
- encouraging more women to involve themselves
as voters, volunteers and candidates
